About Merzouga & Erg Chebbi Dunes
Merzouga is a small Moroccan town in the Sahara Desert near the Algerian border. It's known as a gateway to Erg Chebbi, a huge expanse of sand dunes north of town. Camel treks run from the village into the dunes, where overnight stays at luxury or traditional Berber camps are organized. The spectacular orange sands rise up to 150 meters, creating a dreamlike landscape that shifts color from gold to terracotta at sunset.

The Erg Chebbi Dunes
Unlike other parts of the Sahara that consist of rocky plateaus, Erg Chebbi is a sea of wind-swept sand dunes. They stretch for 28 kilometers from north to south and reach heights of up to 150 meters. The color of the sand changes depending on the time of day, offering photographers a breathtaking spectrum of colors from pale yellow to intense gold and fiery orange-red.
