Itinerary
Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Cedar Forest - Ziz Valley - Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)
Morning departure from your Fes hotel. Drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, known as the 'Switzerland of Morocco'. Visit the cedar forest of Azrou to observe wild Barbary macaques. Continue through Midelt for lunch and marvel at the palm tree oasis of Ziz Valley. In the afternoon, reach Merzouga. Swap your vehicle for camels and trek into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Watch the sunset, enjoy a traditional tagine dinner, and sleep in a luxury desert camp.
Day 2: Merzouga Dunes - Rissani - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley
Wake up early to catch the beautiful Sahara sunrise. Ride camels back to Merzouga for breakfast. Drive to Rissani, the historical center of the Alaouite dynasty, and explore its authentic market. Continue to Todra Gorge, a vertical limestone canyon. Take a walk along the river. In the afternoon, drive through the Dades Valley, famous for its rock formations known as 'monkey fingers'. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional Kasbah hotel.
Day 3: Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech
After breakfast, travel through the Valley of Roses to Ouarzazate. Visit the Atlas Cinema Studios. Tour the ancient ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and setting for movies like Gladiator. Begin climbing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, offering panoramic views. Arrive in Marrakech in the evening.
